Benefit Street, the majestic thoroughfare in the heart of downtown Providence, is renowned for its distinctive 18th and 19th-century wood-frame architecture. The mile-long street, originally created "for the benefit of all," is a vibrant downtown neighborhood continually improved to preserve its colonial glory. 

Please join CAARI on Saturday, Oct. 1 for "Benefit Street: A Mile of History," a leisurely and fascinating fall stroll along this beautiful and historic street that features homes, churches, and academic institutions. 

This event is sponsored by the Rhode Island Historical Society, which will provide a guide to lead the tour down one of Providences's most notable streets.

The tour commences at 10:30 a.m., in front of John Brown House Museum, 52 Power St., and lasts 90 minutes. 

Available free parking may be found on Power St., nearby streets or in Historical Society's lot at the corner of Benefit & Charlesfield streets

Tickets for this event may be purchased in advance or on the same day at the John Brown House Museum. 

Adults $15; Seniors $12

Immediately following the tour, as a part of Columbia Connects 2016, CAARI will host a Welcome Luncheon at Clean Plate RI, 345 Water St.,  to celebrate our Class of 2016 alumni to the Ocean State and our Columbia connections worldwide.
